The $8 Million commercial: Inside LEGO’s global partnership with FIFA and Football’s biggest icons
Four of football’s biggest global stars (Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Jr) have come together in rare joint appearance as part of a major LEGO campaign launched in partnership with FIFA ahead of World Cup 2026.
The project, released on Thursday 27 March 2026 is already generating massive engagement across digital platforms.
A rare meeting of global icons
The campaign, titled “Everyone Wants a Piece”, centers around 60 second commercial in which the four player compete to assemble a LEGO version of the FIFA World Cup trophy.
The concept blends competition with creativity, before taking unexpected turn .. a young boy ultimately completes the build placing his own figure at the top.
The video quickly gained traction surpassing one million views within 24 hour alongside nearly three million likes on TikTok reflecting the combined global reach of the players involved.
The business behind the campaign
Beyond the creative concept, the financial scale of the campaign is striking. Based on public data regarding social media endorsement rates, the combined cost of featuring the four player is estimated to exceed $8 million for a single 60 second production and that figure excludes production and filming expenses.
Cristiano Ronaldo leads the commercial landscape. With more than 630 million followers, he reportedly earns around $3.43 million per sponsored post.
According to Forbes, his off field earnings reached approximately $75 million in 2025 reinforcing his position as one of the most marketable athletes globally.
Lionel Messi follows closely, with 512 million followers and an estimated $2.59 million per post maintaining long standing rivalry with Ronaldo not only on the pitch but also in digital influence.
Mbappé & Vinícius drive the next generation
Kylian Mbappé represents different commercial strategy. With more selective endorsement portfolio focused on luxury and tech brands, he generated around $20 million in off field income in 2025.
His social media value is estimated at $852,000 per post, supported by a following of over 120 million.
Vinícius Jr meanwhile continues to grow both as footballer and global figure. With more than 50 million follower, his estimated value per sponsored post stands at $325,000 while his endorsement income reached around $15 million in 2025.
He has also become a prominent voice in campaigns against racism, further strengthening his global profile.
LEGO expands into football culture
The campaign is part of a broader strategy by LEGO to deepen its presence in the sports market ahead of World Cup 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Alongside the commercial, LEGO unveiled new football themed collection including player focused sets, collector editions for Messi and Ronaldo and 1,427 piece wall art model celebrating Messi.
The sets incorporate career references, national team elements and interactive features designed to appeal to both younger audiences and collectors.
