World Cup qualifiers / Algeria - Uganda: Belaïli and Bounedjah out! (Official)
A major blow for the Algeria national team on the eve of their final 2026 World Cup qualifier against Uganda. The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has officially announced that Youcef Belaïli and Baghdad Bounedjah will not feature in this match, neither on the pitch nor on the bench. Both 2019 Africa Cup of Nations champions sustained injuries during the victory over Somalia (3-0) in Oran, and medical examinations at the Sidi Moussa technical center have confirmed their unavailability.
The two players have been granted permission to leave the squad and return to their respective clubs to begin their rehabilitation. Their absence is a real setback for Vladimir Petković, who will have to do without two key attacking players. There is still hope, however, that they will recover quickly and come back stronger for the upcoming challenges, especially AFCON 2025.
