AFCON 2025: The biggest crowds in AFCON history

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will take place from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026 in Morocco.

A huge influx of fans is expected in the Kingdom, but the big question remains: will we see new attendance records set for individual matches?

Throughout the history of the tournament, two matches have stood out for their dream attendance figures: Senegal vs. Egypt in 1986 and Algeria vs. Nigeria in 1990.

Behind these two matches with 100,000 fans each, two other games from AFCON 1986 drew 95,000 supporters: Egypt vs. Morocco and Egypt vs. Cameroon.

Here are the matches with the largest turnouts:

March 16, 1990: Algeria vs. Nigeria (1-0) — 100,000 fans

March 7, 1986: Senegal vs. Egypt (1-0) — 100,000 fans

March 17, 1986: Egypt vs. Morocco (1-0) — 95,000 fans

March 20, 1986: Egypt vs. Cameroon (5-4 pens) — 95,000 fans

March 8, 1990: Algeria vs. Egypt (2-0) — 85,000 fans

February 10, 2013: Nigeria vs. Burkina Faso (1-0) — 85,000 fans
