“Algeria has what it takes to win the World Cup”: Adil Aouchiche makes no secret of his ambitions

Adil Aouchiche is not hiding his ambitions for Algeria ahead of the 2026 World Cup, convinced that the Fennecs can aim for the ultimate prize.

Adil Aouchiche is speaking in bold terms. The Schalke 04 attacking midfielder makes it clear: he has his eyes set on World Cup triumph in 2026, fully believing in the potential of the Algerian squad.

In an interview with So Foot, he didn’t shy away from his ambitions:

“I’ll echo what Kylian once said: ‘When you play a World Cup, you go to win it.’ As an Algerian, the goal is crystal clear: go as far as possible and lift that trophy. I have absolutely no fear in saying it, and I don’t think it’s crazy to say it. You have to work hard, you need quality to win a World Cup, and we have it. We’re going there to show the true face of Algerians, to give everything, to leave our hearts on the pitch and to go as far as we possibly can.”

Called up for the first time in March after an impressive debut in friendlies against Guatemala and Uruguay, Aouchiche also explained his career choice:

“It was already in my mind for a long time, even during my years with France’s youth teams. I am Algerian, it’s in my heart, and I was already following this national team. I played for France’s youth sides because they were the only team that approached me at the start. The day the Algerian federation called me up, I accepted. It happened naturally, from the heart.”
