The upcoming clash between Algeria and Jordan is already shaping up to be decisive in the race for a spot in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup. Fully aware of what’s at stake, Jamal Sellami shared his thoughts on the match and did not miss the chance to praise the quality of the Fennecs’ squad.

After a disappointing start to their 2026 World Cup campaigns, Algeria and Jordan will face off on June 23 in a duel that is already crucial for their qualification hopes. Having lost to Argentina (3-0) and Austria (3-1) respectively, both teams will be playing for a large part of their future in this group J encounter.

Sellami expects a tough battle against the Fennecs

Speaking after his team’s defeat, Jamal Sellami acknowledged just how important this game against Algeria will be. The Jordanian coach declared:

“We both lost our first match. The main thing will be to regain our full physical potential; the level we showed against Austria can serve us well for what’s to come.”

However, the Moroccan tactician is very wary of Vladimir Petkovic’s men. In fact, he made a point of highlighting the strength of the Algerian squad:

“We’re going to face our Algerian brothers, who have exceptional players in their ranks. We hope to be up to the challenge, put on a great show, and achieve a better result than we did today.”

This statement sets the stage for a high-stakes showdown between two teams desperate to bounce back.
