Just days after his hat-trick against Algeria (3-0) in Argentina’s opening match at the 2026 World Cup, Lionel Messi finds himself in a difficult personal situation. His father, Jorge Messi, is currently under medical observation. However, his family has reassured fans, stating that he “is recovering and improving favorably.”

In this context, Mauricio Pochettino made a point of sending a message of support to the Argentine legend ahead of the United States’ match against Australia.
“He is going through a difficult family situation. I know him and his family well from our time together in Paris. I wish them all the best,” said the American head coach.
Furthermore, the Argentine coach also praised the Albiceleste’s performance against the Fennecs:
