Manchester City Greenlights Ortega Exit After Signing Trafford
Manchester City've officially paved the way for Stefan Ortega’s departure in the ongoing 2025 summer transfer window following the return of James Trafford.
Trafford Back Until 2030
The Premier League champions confirmed via their official X account that James Trafford's rejoined the club from Burnley after activating buy back clause. The 21 year old goalkeeper signed new deal that runs until 2030 positioning him as the new backup to Ederson.
Ortega Told He Can Leave
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that City've informed Ortega he's free to leave this summer. The German keeper who joined City in 2022 from Arminia Bielefeld, now faces several transfer options.
Interest Building Around Ortega
According to English media, at least 3 PL clubs are actively pursuing the 32 year old goalkeeper. Turkish giants Fenerbahce are also in serious talks to secure his services before the window closes.
Ortega’s contract with City runs until summer 2026 but the arrival of Trafford significantly limits his 1st team chances heading into the new season.
