OM: Aubameyang's analysis of the season
OM can still achieve their goal of qualifying for the Champions League. But for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the season will end with a sense of disappointment.
The Gabon international striker remains particularly affected by OM's failures in the Champions League and the Coupe de France. "I think the season was defined by the fact that we kind of set things on fire ourselves," the Gabonese international told Maritima Médias. "We sabotaged ourselves a bit because, no matter what, in January we were still in the running for everything and anything was possible. We played quite a few matches where our performances were top notch, and it's true that sometimes we showed two faces.", he said.
He continued: "I've always said that when you play in Marseille, you really have to be in your bubble, you have to stay focused on what you're doing and not necessarily listen to what's going on around you. I think this year that played a role and it destabilized the squad a bit. That's what's unfortunate. But it's understandable because there are a lot of new players and youngsters who don't really know the context. So obviously it's not easy."
