PSL agrees to give Orlando Pirates Stadium its new name!

The stage is set for a new chapter in Soweto football history. Orlando Pirates have officially been given the green light to rename their legendary home ground, and from the start of the 2026/27 season, the stadium will be known as the Orlando Amstel Arena.

The shift was first unveiled back in January 2026, when the Buccaneers revealed a lucrative three-year sponsorship pact reportedly worth R280 million. But while the branding trucks rolled in and the signage went up, the Premier Soccer League held off on making it official—at least until the current campaign wrapped up. For the remainder of the 2025/26 season, the old name had to stay, pending formal league approval.

That wait is now over. With the release of the PSL's draft fixture list for the upcoming season, the venue appears under its new commercial identity for the very first time. And fittingly, the inaugural league clash at the rebaptized arena will see the defending Betway Premiership champions raise the curtain on their title defence.

Come Saturday, 1 August, Orlando Pirates will welcome newly promoted Milford FC to the Orlando Amstel Arena—a match that not only marks the start of their championship chase but also officially christens one of South Africa's most iconic football cathedrals with a brand-new name.
