AFCON qualifiers: Carlos Queiroz calls up 9 reinforcements for Ghana's Black Stars

Ghana is revising its plans 48 hours before facing Côte d'Ivoire in Bouaké as part of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The reshuffle became necessary for Carlos Queiroz after medical assessments changed the initial squad list. The major absentee is Mohamed Kudus, who has just returned to Tottenham and has been given time to recover by the coach.

Defence and midfield affected

Four players join the squad in defence: Jonas Adjetey of VfL Wolfsburg, Alidu Seidu of OGC Nice, Ebenezer Annan of Rapid Bucuresti and Rockson Yeboah of Osasuna. In midfield, Rahim Ibrahim of Slovan Bratislava has been added to the team.

Four additional attacking options

The Ghana attack also welcomes four new players: Brandon Thomas Asante of Coventry City, Mohammed Fuseini of Derby County, Benjamin Tetteh of Kalba and Felix Afena Gyan of Igdir FK.

A packed schedule

With these adjustments, Carlos Queiroz now has a larger squad and additional options for the upcoming fixtures. Ghana will face Côte d'Ivoire on September 24, 2026, then The Gambia on September 29 in the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027. The Black Stars will then meet Morocco on October 4 in an international friendly.
