AS Monaco: Oumar Konaté made his Ligue 1 debut
Oumar Konaté reached a new milestone. The young Ivorian striker made his Ligue 1 debut with AS Monaco this Sunday, August 23.
Coming on a few minutes before the final whistle, he played 9 minutes in Monaco’s 1-0 away victory over Le Havre. It was the 19-year-old center forward’s first appearance in the top tier of French football.
It wasn’t his first taste of high-level football, however. Oumar Konaté had already played 9 minutes during the qualifiers for the Europa Conference League against Gornik, a match Monaco won 3-2.
A talent spotted early
Signed in June 2025 from Sol FC d’Abobo, Oumar Konaté penned his first professional contract with AS Monaco. A Côte d’Ivoire U20 international, he made a name for himself in recent editions of the Maurice Revello Tournament. In 2026, he raised his game even further, scoring 3 goals in total—including a brace that secured third place for Côte d’Ivoire.
With this first Ligue 1 match, the young striker officially kicks off his season. The goal now is to earn more playing time and live up to the high expectations at Monaco.
