Hamed Junior Traoré’s time in Ligue 1 appears to be cutting short. Although the Ivory Coast international is tied to Marseille through 2030, the upcoming 2026–2027 season will likely find him plying his trade elsewhere—specifically, in Italian waters.

According to reports from Foot Mercato, the 26-year-old attacking midfielder is on the verge of trading the Mediterranean coast of France for the port city of Genoa. The two clubs have shaken hands on a loan arrangement, one that includes a purchase option set at €8 million should the Grifone decide to make the move permanent.

For Traoré, who operates primarily from the left flank but drifts centrally with ease, the switch to Serie A represents a fresh chapter. After arriving in Marseille with promise, his spell at the Stade Vélodrome now seems destined for an early pause, with Genoa poised to offer him both regular minutes and a new tactical environment in which to rediscover his rhythm.

The deal, still pending final formalities, would see the Ivorian forward don the red-and-blue of Genoa for the duration of the loan, with the Italian side retaining the right to secure his services beyond that should he impress. For now, all signs point toward a summer departure—and a new beginning in one of Europe’s most defensively rigorous leagues.
