Rayan Aït-Nouri’s downward spiral continues
Between losing his status at Manchester City and a disciplinary incident with Algeria, Rayan Aït-Nouri is going through a difficult period on several fronts.
Rayan Aït-Nouri is going through a difficult period. Used less in recent weeks by Manchester City, the Algerian left-back has also seen his market value fall, according to Transfermarkt’s latest update.
The 25-year-old is now valued at €35 million, down from €40 million since 17 October 2025. The five-million-euro drop comes in a delicate context, marked both by a loss of status at club level and by a turbulent international break with the Algerian national team.

A shortened camp after the incident against Zambia
During the Fennecs’ 3-1 win over Zambia, Aït-Nouri had been sent to warm up before being called back to the bench, then asked to resume warming up after Algeria’s second goal. Several videos showed the player visibly frustrated, before a tense exchange with the staff.
The Manchester City full-back ultimately did not come on. The Algerian Football Federation subsequently announced his release from the camp and his return to England. While the federation’s statement did not specify the reason, the incident was presented as a disciplinary decision taken after the tense sequence.
Hemdani: “The situation has been resolved”
After the 2-1 friendly win over Niger, Brahim Hemdani was asked about the matter. The coach chose not to reignite the controversy:
“I do not wish to engage in speculation or fuel the controversy. The situation has been resolved and the Algerian Football Federation has issued a statement.”
Hemdani also added: “Everything concerning this matter will be handled with wisdom and caution, and the measures we take will be my own decision.” The statement clearly suggests that the next steps in the matter will depend directly on the coach.
A response expected with Manchester City
For Aït-Nouri, the priority is now to regain playing time and a more prominent role in the Manchester club’s rotation. A return to form with City would not only allow him to revive his season, but also help him climb back up the Fennecs’ pecking order and, ultimately, increase a market value that nevertheless remains high.
