Barcelona celebrated crucial 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid on Saturday 4 April but one moment stood out amid the late drama.

Lamine Yamal walking off the pitch visibly frustrated even as his teammates celebrated Robert Lewandowski’s decisive goal.

The teenager’s reaction, captured by DAZN cameras, quickly drew attention especially given the importance of the result in Barcelona’s title push.

Frustration despite a decisive victory

Lewandowski’s 87th minute strike sealed the win and pushed Barcelona seven point clear of Real Madrid sparking celebrations among players and fans alike.

Yamal however showed little emotion. Instead of joining the celebrations, he headed straight toward the tunnel, visibly upset. Even a brief interaction with head coach Hansi Flick did little to change his mood.

He was eventually accompanied off the pitch by goalkeeping coach José Ramón de la Fuente, a detail that added to the curiosity around the situation.

Flick downplays the incident

After the match, Flick addressed the episode and sought to calm any speculation.

“Lamine tried everything .. he dribbled, attacked but didn’t score ... He was a bit frustrated because it was such intense game but that’s normal. He’s fine now” Flick explained.

The coach’s response framed the reaction as competitive frustration rather than a deeper issue.

Dressing room insight reveals possible reason

However reports from Mundo Deportivo citing dressing room sources, suggest there may have been another factor behind Yamal’s visible anger.

According to the report, the young winger may have felt mentally drained after receiving continuous tactical instructions throughout the match particularly from José Ramón de la Fuente who is also responsible for set piece organization.

The volume of information and in game guidance appears to have affected him especially in high intensity encounter where he struggled to make a decisive impact.
