Fernando da Cruz calls on Kaizer Chiefs fans to support their team in the return leg against Red Arrows!

Following Saturday's disappointing 1-0 loss to Red Arrows in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup, held away from home, Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz has urged the club's fans to stay united.

In the wake of the Glamour Boys' first defeat in weeks, frustration has been mounting among the Amakhosi faithful, and Da Cruz took it upon himself to respond. Addressing journalists in the aftermath of the match, he admitted that the result was a bitter pill to swallow, yet he remained adamant that his team still has what it takes to turn things around when they host the return leg on Friday.

Fernando de Cruz receives strong support from the fans

In his post-match interaction with journalists, the coach did not shy away from the disappointment of the result, yet he made it clear that his team still has the ability to erase the deficit when they play the second leg at home on Friday.

"They shouldn't be very happy right now. No, I know very well they are not happy. Because the results today at PSL, we don't lose, we don't win either. Today, we lost. But the first leg is a return match. We need the supporters for the game on Friday. To support us. because I know that the team is able to reverse the result. What is most important is that in difficult moments we must stay united, players, staff, club and supporters to get through this period and get better results."

The coach also owned up to the fact that his charges found it hard to fashion chances against the Zambian outfit — something Kaizer Chiefs have seldom experienced this season — and he gave his assurance that the technical team will make tactical tweaks before the all-important second leg.

"We have to be more impactful, more offensive. It's the first game since the start of the season where we have created so few chances, but it's not a habit. We are going to put something in place to allow us to reverse the result. For sure, we need to change something to create more chances. Normally, we create more chances in PSL. It's the first time that we didn't create a lot of chances, so we need to analyse and after we need to change something to be able to qualify."
