FC Barcelona could be without several defenders for their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain. After the victory over Real Betis, Hansi Flick revealed that Gerard Martín, Eric García and Jules Koundé were experiencing pain. Their availability for the next European fixture therefore remains uncertain.

Flick concerned after victory over Betis

Barça extended their unbeaten run in La Liga by winning their ninth consecutive match. However, the victory was accompanied by concerns on the fitness front, just days before an important clash with PSG in the Champions League. Asked about the condition of his players, Hansi Flick acknowledged that the situation regarding his defenders still needed to be assessed:

We still don't know what to do with Eric. Jules has a few problems, and Gerard Martín does too. We have to see how the situation develops. We still have two days, and we will see what happens on Tuesday.

The three players experienced different situations during the match against Betis. Gerard Martín left the field before the start of the second half. He was replaced by Eric García, who himself had to come off in stoppage time. Meanwhile, Jules Koundé played the entire match before reporting pain after the final whistle. Medical examinations should determine the nature of their physical problems and their potential availability for the trip to France.

A defensive headache ahead of PSG?

If all three defenders were to be ruled out, Hansi Flick would have to reconsider his options for shaping his back line against the Parisian side. Such a situation would be particularly difficult ahead of a major European fixture.

For now, no definitive absences have been announced. The examination results will be decisive in determining whether Gerard Martín, Eric García and Jules Koundé will be able to play. Barça are therefore awaiting updates on their defenders, hoping to have their players back before this clash with PSG.
