Fright Sunday during the 7th matchday of LaLiga. Djene Dakonam, the 34-year-old central defender, asked to be substituted himself during Getafe's 1-0 win over Malaga.

More fear than harm

The Sparrowhawks captain made way for Orel Mangala in the 65th minute. His exit caused concern in Lomé just days before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers. When asked about it, his coach José Bordalas quickly put the rumours to rest:

Djené was not feeling well before the match. He had a fever and had spent a bad night. He is a very honest man who knew that the team needed him.

A key defensive player
