Mohamed Salah faces a six month UK ban

Trabzonspor forward Mohamed Salah has received a six month driving ban in England after failing to identify the driver of his vehicle during a speeding infraction in Cheshire according to British newspaper The Sun.

Failure to identify the driver

The ruling arrived shortly after the Egyptian international concluded his nine year tenure at Liverpool in June. A mobile speed camera had previously recorded Salah’s £400,000 Rolls-Royce exceeding a 30 mph speed limit in Wilmslow, Cheshire, during March.

After Salah did not respond to court correspondence, magistrates in Warrington convicted him in his absence. While the speeding charge itself was withdrawn, he was convicted of failing to provide the driver's identity.

The court imposed a £660 fine, alongside £120 in court costs and a £264 victim surcharge.

Previous driving matters in the United Kingdom

This ruling is not the first driving sanction the forward has faced in England. In 2022, Salah received a £200 fine after being clocked driving his Ferrari F8 Tributo at 63 mph in a 50 mph zone in Stockport.

Earlier in his Liverpool career, in 2018, footage circulated showing the forward using a mobile phone while behind the wheel near Anfield. That case did not result in prosecution due to insufficient evidence.

Unaffected form in the Süper Lig

The driving disqualification in England carries no bearing on Salah's sporting eligibility or day to day commitments in Turkey.

The 34 year old remains fully integrated into his new club following a standout performance on Saturday where he scored a hat-trick and provided an assist in Trabzonspor’s 4-0 victory over Galatasaray.

His focus remains firmly centered on maintaining his scoring form at the top of the Turkish top flight.
