Real Madrid vs Bayern: Jonathan Tah reveals his plan against Kylian Mbappé
Tonight, Bayern Munich take on Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals. Bayern's central defender Jonathan Tah has hinted at how he plans to defend against Mbappé.
Speaking to L'Equipe, Jonathan Tah first acknowledged Kylian Mbappé's outstanding qualities: "He’s a player with an incredible skill set. He’s extremely fast, has great technique, and is ruthless in front of goal," noted the German. "But no player is perfect, no matter how good they are—everyone has weaknesses. So I'll watch matches where he might have struggled against his direct opponent and analyze why. I note the context and the solutions, then I try to put them into practice. That’s exactly what we do with a team as a whole."
Jonathan Tah adds: "The goal is to anticipate, right? To always be ready, to have knowledge beforehand, to say to yourself: 'I've watched ten videos of this situation, I think I know what he's going to do.' It's a way to develop that sense of intuition. But it's never easy—everything happens on the pitch and the best players always find something new. But it's definitely easier than if I hadn't done my homework."
