Morocco experienced a bittersweet evening in the FIFA rankings. After briefly reaching fifth place in the world thanks to their victory over Scotland (1-0), the Atlas Lions were ultimately overtaken by Brazil following the Seleção's win against Haiti.

Morocco continues its impressive run in this 2026 World Cup campaign. Indeed, thanks to their win over Scotland (1-0) on Matchday 2 of Group C, Mohamed Ouahbi's men made a strong move by temporarily taking the lead in their group with four points ahead of their final showdown against Haiti.

This win also had an immediate impact on the live FIFA rankings. The Atlas Lions had provisionally reached a historic fifth place in the world with a total of 1,769.98 points, surpassing the likes of Portugal, the Netherlands, and Brazil. However, this surge proved short-lived, as the Seleção's 3-0 victory over Haiti a few hours later allowed the Brazilians to reclaim their spot, pushing Morocco back to sixth.

For now, Argentina remains atop the FIFA rankings ahead of France, Spain, and England. Morocco, however, still retains a place among the world's football elite and will look to continue their momentum against Haiti, aiming to qualify for the knockout stage and further improve their ranking.
