Morocco made a major statement in this 2026 World Cup. The Atlas Lions edged out Scotland by the slimmest of margins (1-0) on matchday two of Group C, courtesy of a lightning-fast goal from Ismaël Saibari in just the 2nd minute, following a sublime through ball from Brahim Díaz.

From there, Mohamed Ouahbi’s men controlled proceedings with authority. Boasting nearly 60% possession and a commanding midfield duo in Ayyoub Bouaddi and Neil El Aynaoui, Morocco suffocated a Scottish side that failed to register a single shot on target all game. Despite Steve Clarke’s tactical adjustments, the Moroccan defense remained rock-solid throughout.
With this win, Morocco temporarily move to the top of Group C ahead of the Brazil vs. Haiti clash.
