Bayern: legend Lothar Matthäus slams Michael Olise
At Bayern, Michael Olise has drawn the ire of Lothar Matthäus. The Frenchman was sent off during the spectacular 3-3 draw between Bayern Munich and Viking in the Champions League.
In the 74th minute, Michael Olise first committed a foul before throwing the ball at the face of the opposing captain, Zlatko Tripic. He had been provoked. The Frenchman's thoughtless reaction proved costly for Bayern. The Norwegians took advantage to snatch an equaliser in the 90th minute.
Lothar Matthäus still cannot get over it
Michael Olise's attitude surprised German legend Lothar Matthäus, who has absolutely not been able to digest it. “It is unacceptable. Even if the referee did not see it,” he said in Bild. He believes that the Frenchman must learn to manage his emotions better.
“Of course, they try to take a player like that out of the game by any means possible. I maintain that Olise allowed himself to be provoked. In the end, he harmed himself, but above all, the team,” Matthäus said, clearly annoyed by the consequences of the incident.
