FC Barcelona: Lamine Yamal's anger against Atlético, Hansi Flick calms things down
Lamine Yamal made headlines on Saturday night despite FC Barcelona's victory over Atlético Madrid in La Liga (1-2). Facing the media, Hansi Flick stepped in to cool tempers.
FC Barcelona fought hard Saturday night at the home of Atlético Madrid (2-1) in La Liga. However, one scene caught many by surprise at the final whistle. Lamine Yamal did not celebrate the win with his teammates and headed straight for the locker room after a brief exchange with his coach, Hans-Dieter Flick.
In his post-match press conference, the German manager played down the significance of the incident.
"I don't know exactly why (he reacted like that at the end), but there were a lot of emotions in this match. And Lamine gave everything to try and score the second goal—it's perfect, it's fantastic. Of course, not everything went perfectly, but he tried everything. For me, that's how it is. We'll have three days to prepare for the next match, the Champions League is very important, and he'll be in a better mood," Flick assured.
As a reminder, on Wednesday Barça will face Atlético again at Camp Nou in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
