Ahead of the game, Mundo Deportivo has revealed the likely lineup for the Catalan side as they face Elche at the Martínez Valero stadium. As defending champions, FC Barcelona are aiming for a strong start to their title defense, especially after those players who reached the latter stages of the 2026 World Cup were granted an extended rest period.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Hamza Abdelkarim stands a chance to start against Elche after making a strong impression during preseason. However, the projected lineup published by the newspaper does not include Hamza among the starters, with Gordon leading the line up front. Raphinha and Lamine Yamal are expected to feature on the wings.
